Powering California

California’s need for reliable and affordable energy is growing. To meet this demand, our Long Beach Generating Station is back online and providing 260 megawatts (MW) of gas-fueled generating capacity—enough energy to power 208,000 homes. We repowered the plant in 2007 (it was dormant since late 2004) to provide immediate, critical support to the Southern California power grid, especially during times of peak demand. Long Beach is the first RepoweringNRG project to go from contract to construction to completion.
